Strep Throat Christmas

Hello My Loving Friends and Family,
Well, I hope that this Christmas was full of warm fuzzies. Mine was. On Sunday night I started to come down with something. My face was warm and flushed. My oldest son just came down with Strep throat a week before, and now my fear of catching the same was becoming reality. The next morning my throat was swollen and temperatures were raising. My loving husband carried me down to the clinic. I was givin some Amoxicillin and wished a Merry Christmas. The doctor didn't charge us a thing for the visit or the meds. Wow Huh! Unfortunately, the meds were not working, in fact they were making things worse. I'll save you the awful details and just tell you that the meds were ceased and I was left to fight on my own. My temp would reach 104.8. James would give me some Tylenol and Advil mix to brake it an stop the awful aches and pains from taking place. It was agony to eat anything...keep it down. I would brake out in these massive night sweats that would literally drench my clothes an pillow. I'm now a whop'n 120 pounds. 5 days in agony. But I tell you, there is healing on the Sabbath day. I got up and made my family breakfast tacos. I'm not fully there yet but I will be by the end of this day. I love and miss you all. Thank-you for checking up on me. And Praise be to God for healling and keeping my husband alive off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Christmas Spirit

So this year I have mercy for the trees. I decided to buy a "fake" tree. I know some of you may be appalled, but we got this tree for a great price. It's a blue spruce, ands stands about 8ft. We saw that in the stores they are going for $250. However, we got ours for $40. The branches fold down automatically when you assemble it together. We do miss that fresh pine scent, and it does take up half the dining room. It's awesome!

We have added a cranberry and popcorn string to the tree since this picture...so beautiful

Our Table Story

Before James and I were married, he had mentioned to me that he was inheriting a large oak table from his step dad. He told me that it had six chairs and an extension piece that could allow eight to ten people to dine comfortably. I was excited! Who wouldn't be, I mean those kinds of tables go for a couple thousand dollars. He did, however, forget to mention the condition of the chairs. These chairs have been through 9 children with pets. In the above picture, I am pointing at a clean patch of fabric I cut from the underside of the chair, while wearing the repulsed look of how I really felt about my chairs. I wish I would have got a picture of the worst chair. It had holes in the corners. Way past the point of using Resolve cleaner to fix the problem.

So, with enough whining for the whole year, I was able to motivate the family in reupholstering the chairs. My dead line was Thanksgiving. Once we bought the expensive fabric, we then began the gruelling work of pulling apart the chairs. The way the factory put them together was awful for the person who wanted to reupholster later on. The bottoms contained at least 150 staples, and the tops about 300. It took me about an hour an a half to take apart one chair. I then took them all to James moms house, including the top to my ceder chest, cause mom is the expert at this kind of stuff. Poor mom, she literally worked all day and was able to complete 5 of the 6.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!

Yes, even the husband joined in the fun...doesn't he look like he's having fun?
And this is our finished product. I'm so happy! Now I can host and not be so ashamed of my chairs. What do you guys think?
